Walt Disney was inspired by a place he took his daughters to. It was a carousel located in Griffith Park in LA.
Walt Disney originally wanted to have a park called Mickey Mouse Park. He wanted to have the park be located by his Burbank Studios. It was supposed to only be 8 acres but he soon realized he would need a big area to have his dream become a realitiy.
Walt Disney hired the Standford Research Institute to find an area that is around 100 arces.
Standford found an orange orchaid that was 160 arces located in Anahiem, California.
Walt put up as much money as he could to fufill his dream, but he didn't have enough money to make the park. He turned to financiers for money but they didn't agree with his ideas.
Disney finally made a deal with ABC. ABC would help fund Disneyland, if Disney produced a show for ABC.
On July 21, 1954 the building commenced. It took around 17 million dollars.
On July 17, 1955, Disneyland first opened it's doors for a couple thousand invited guests
The park included Main Street, Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland.
An additional 20,000 guests showed up which caused a ton of problems for Disneyland.
The park closed down and was reopened on July 18, 1955
Disneyland now still stands today and any one can go visit and have fun on the park.
